Claire African Travel Fanatic

Born in Zimbabwe and bred in South Africa, with a pint of French in my blood, I spent one year abroad after leaving school and in that year I couldn’t believe how much I missed Cape Town for its sheer essence, the mountain, forests and fresh sea air. For that year abroad all I could do was tell anyone I met they HAD to visit Africa and feel the magic for themselves... This led me thinking that a career in Tourism where I could promote my country and the continent I live on each and every day would be the right way to go and here I am, 10 years later loving every second of it!

Having been fortunate enough to visit some of Africa’s Highlights and some local Western Cape gems too, I specialise in Cape Town, (Cage diving with Great Whites!) the Garden Route and it’s gorgeous Otter Trail, Kruger National Park, Swaziland, Mozambique’s coast and the Bazaruto Archipelago, Tanzania’s famous Northern Circuit - the Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater as well as reaching Stella Point on Mount Kilimanjaro’s Machame Route! The lush island of Zanzibar, the magic of Victoria Falls and my absolute favourite of all... Ethiopia’s Historic Northern Route to places known only in fairytales such as Lalibela and the Castle of Fasilides...

One of the funniest things I have seen in East Africa has to be the local Masai people, deep in the heart of Africa, fully kitted in their beautiful red cloths with their ornate jewellery and walking stick in one hand. Casually herding cattle along the long dusty roads to their pastures and even on the beaches of Zanzibar when all of a sudden something starts ringing and out comes a mobile phone from a leather knife belt... smiling he or she greets their friend on the other end!
