I was lucky enough to spend my childhood in untouched Africa, when we were able to free camp in the Okavango Delta. We lived on the skeleton coast in Namibia, where our back garden opened onto the Namib Desert. It wasn’t unusual to wake up in the morning and find Gemsbok eating our roses. I started African Budget Safaris in 2006, those days we were one of the few online travel companies offering truly unique African experiences, and we were the first to offer online budget travel. Our vision was to open up Africa for budget conscious travellers making it possible for those on a budget to enjoy the same wildlife experience as those paying for luxury safaris.
