Why Travel To Caprivi?

Namibia's Caprivi Strip, located near Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Chobe National Park in Botswana, combines well with these famous destinations on an African safari.

Types of Caprivi Safaris

Various kinds of tours visit Caprivi, including Budget Lodge Safaris, Budget Camping, Motorbike, and Senior Safaris, from 10 to 22 days long. These tours visit highlights in Southern Africa, including Etosha Park in Namibia, Chobe and the Okavango Delta in Botswana, and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, along with Caprivi attractions.

The Trans-Caprivi-Highway runs through the Caprivi Strip from Rundu in the west to the district capital of Katima Mulilo in the east. This highway is now tarred, providing easy access to nearby attractions such as Chobe National Park in Botswana, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and Etosha Park in Namibia.

Caprivi Tour Highlights

  • Game viewing in Bwabwata, Mudumu, Lizauli, West Caprivi Game Park, and Mamili National Park
  • Nearly 70% of Namibia's bird species, hosting the highest diversity of birds in Namibia
  • Lush riverine forests, floodplains, woodlands, and swamps make Caprivi a watery wonderland
  • The scenic rapids of Popa Falls on the Kavango River in the west
  • Gateway to Chobe National Park, Okavango Delta, and Victoria Falls
  • Remote and unspoiled wilderness areas away from the safari crowds

BwaBwata National Park

BwaBwata National Park consists of what was formerly called the Caprivi Game Park and the Mahango Game Reserve. It is bordered by the Okavango River in the west and the Kwando River in the east. BwaBwata National Park is home to buffalo, elephants, hippos, various antelope species, a few predators, and abundant birdlife.

Drive along the western banks of the Okavango River to spot the rare roan and sable antelopes. The former Mahango National Park is home to more bird species than any of Namibia's other game parks and features red lechwe, giant baobab trees, and large herds of elephant and buffalo.
