• Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Located 23 km southeast of Entebbe, this 50-hectare island sanctuary cares for over 50 orphaned chimpanzees rescued from illegal trade. Run by Wild Frontiers, it features an eco-lodge, kayaking, sunset cruises, and village visits. Visitors can watch feeding sessions at 11:00 and 14:30, with proceeds supporting chimpanzee conservation.

• Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)

A key conservation hub, UWEC rehabilitates animals that cannot survive in the wild. Highlights include lions, cheetahs, black rhinos, and rare birds like the shoebill. The centre also recently introduced tigers, adding to its unique collection. UWEC’s lakeside setting makes it a favourite with families and wildlife enthusiasts.

• Entebbe Botanical Gardens

Birdwatchers can spot the grey kestrel, Jackson’s golden-backed weaver, black-headed gonolek, and red-chested sunbird. • Mabamba Bay Swamp
