10 of The Best South African Beaches

With over 2,800 km of coastline, South African beaches are some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. This is our list of the best beaches in South Africa.

With its diverse landscapes, South Africa is celebrated as a “world in one country”, offering an array of stunning destinations. Beyond the famous Kruger game reserves, the country’s extensive coastline makes it ideal for blending beach and bush experiences.

Recently, the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) honoured 48 South African beaches, 4 marinas, and 7 tourism boats with the prestigious Blue Flag award. The Blue Flag accolade reflects high standards in environmental management, education, safety, accessibility, and sustainability and is considered the benchmark for South African beaches.

Starting in Cape Town and working our way east along the Garden Route and into the Eastern Cape, this is our list of the top 10 beaches in South Africa.
